One of the top dental implant manufacturers worldwide, Straumann Group expands in China building its first producing, education, and innovation center.
Shanghai, 26 March 2021 – The Straumann Group, an international front-runner in implant and esthetic dental medicine, signed an investment contract with the Shanghai Xin Zhuang Industrial Park (SHXIP) to launch its foremost Campus in China encompassing manufacturing, teaching, and innovation center at one site. With financing of up to 1.2 billion Chinese yuan by 2029, the China Campus will offer a variety of educational curricula as well as products from the Group’s implant and orthodontics selection for China, supplying to the quickly mounting demands of Chinese dentists and patients for dental solutions. “China has to turn out to be one of the pioneers and trailblazers of dental care and innovation globally. We are thrilled about bolstering our presence to meet up the fast-increasing challenges of dentists and patients for dental solutions in China”, said CEO Guillaume Daniellot. “This venture supports our promise to our continuous influence to the wellbeing of the Chinese people.”
The Swiss specialist in dentistry plans to invest up to CHF 170 million by 2029. The new campus will offer various educational programs as well as products in the field of implants and orthodontics for the Chinese market.
According to a press release, this is very promising. Orthodontic treatments are one of the most popular dental therapies in China, despite the lack of reimbursement. An estimated 700 million Chinese also needed dental and oral care, but only 5 percent of them went to dental clinics. There is a lot of potential for Straumann to come into play here. In addition, the Basel-based company is hoping that the construction of a location in the Shanghai technology cluster will also enable it to collaborate with local partners in order to advance its own digitization.
